On December 18, China’s first inland 64-TEU hydrogen fuel cell powered container ship “Dongfang Qinggang” equipped with Sinosynergy’s fuel cell system was successfully launched. This is Sinosynergy’s first high-power and heavy-load project in the field of shipping, marking another solid step forward in the innovative application of transportation field.
The ship is 64.9 meters long and 12.6 meters wide with a displacement of about 2,000 tons, and it can carry 64 TEUs. It adopts 2 sets of the latest self-developed Honghan C240 hydrogen fuel cell system as the only power source, which is completely green, with zero emission and zero pollution, and has a range of about 380 kilometers. Compared with traditional fuel-powered ships, the ship can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 700 tons per year.
It is understood that Honghan C240 hydrogen fuel cell system is the largest hydrogen fuel cell applied to ships for the first time in China. The system is designed with a service life of more than 30,000 hours, and can realize quick startup and external power output within 10 seconds, with high stability and strong environmental adaptability, which can easily cope with the rocking, salt fog and EMC environment during navigation, and guarantee the safety and stability of the ship.
As China’s first inland hydrogen container ship, the “Dongfang Qinggang” is planned to be used for the inland waterway transport route from Zhapu Port to Xiasha Port for operational demonstration next year, creating China’s first green hydrogen inland container transport line. Its successful launch will lead the formulation of key marine equipment standards for hydrogen-powered ships, promote the exploration of commercial operation models for hydrogen-powered ships in inland container transport scenarios, and boost scale development.
At present, China is deeply promoting the green low-carbon strategy, which brings unprecedented opportunities for the development of new energy shipping industry.
