Brazilian player Constellation Oil Services has won a USD 528-million contract for offshore drilling from Petrobras, the company announced on December 17th.
Under the three-year charter agreement, Constellation’s Amaralina Star ultra-deepwater DP drillship will conduct drilling offshore Brazil including in the frontier exploration areas such as the Equatorial Margin and Pelotas Basin.
The three-year agreement has a total value of approximately US$528 million, including approximately US$39 million in mobilization fees and additional services requested by Petrobras. Amaralina Star is scheduled to begin performance of the contract in the first quarter of 2026 with a 315-day extension on the table.
The Amaralina Star is a sixth-generation ultra-deepwater drillship capable of operating in water depths of 3,048 meters and drilling to a depth of 12,192 meters. It is designed to drill in water depths of up to 10,000 feet and has a drilling depth capacity of up to 40,000 feet. It is currently operating in the Roncador field for Petrobras and will conclude its previous agreement in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Constellation Oil Services is a drilling contractor with extensive experience in deep and ultra-deepwater drilling and drilling in challenging environments such as the Brazilian pre-salt.
