DSIC breaks ground for a 175,000 cubic meter LNG Carrier

On December 16, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, started construction of the first 175,000 cubic meter LNG carrier for COSCO SHIPPING LNG Investment (Shanghai) and Sinopec Kantons Holdings Limited.

This LNG carrier has an overall length of 299.7 meters, a beam of 46 meters, a design draft of 11.5 meters, and a service speed of 19.5 knots. Classed by DNV and CCS classification societies, the LNG carrier was independently developed by the DSIC Design Institute, incorporating various cutting-edge technologies and achieving advanced performance levels in the industry.

The liquid cargo tank adopts the GTT Mark III Flex membrane cargo containment system, with a daily boil-off rate as low as 0.085%. It is also equipped with a cryogenic re-liquefaction device, significantly improving the vessel’s energy efficiency.

The vessel is designed in accordance with NAUT (OC), the highest class notation for one-person pilots, to ensure its seaworthiness in global navigation areas. In terms of environmental protection, the vessel is equipped with dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines and exhaust gas economizers, supporting a mixed-fuel mode to minimize additional energy consumption caused by forced evaporation in the LNG tank.
