COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore Delivers New FPSO

On December 16, the new FPSO “Alexandre de Gusmao” designed and built by COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore was successfully delivered and set sail from Jiangsu. It will be used to connect 15 oil wells, water injection wells and gas injection wells in the waters of Brazil’s large-scale ultra-deepwater oil development project.

“Alexandre de Gusmao” is 334 meters long, 60 meters wide and 33 meters deep, with a displacement of 460,000 tons. The new FPSO is suitable for oil and gas development operations in various seas around the world, and is a new FPSO with the world’s largest tonnage and largest oil storage capacity, and is a veritable “mobile offshore refinery”.

It is designed to produce 180,000 barrels of oil per day, can handle 12 million standard cubic meters of natural gas, has a water injection capacity of 250,000 barrels per day and a maximum storage capacity of 1.4 million barrels of crude oil.

It is reported that this project is the first cooperation between COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore and SBM, a world-class general contractor. COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore is responsible for the design, construction, assembly and commissioning of 15 upper modules. After completion, the project will be used in waters about 1,900 meters deep and can connect 15 oil wells at the same time for oil and gas development operations.
