On December 14, COSCO Shipping’s new 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier) “Xiangjiangkou” berthed at Guangzhou Nansha Automobile Port on its maiden voyage, and will carry nearly 4,000 vehicles of various types from more than 10 national brands, such as FAW, Geely, Chery, the Great Wall, SAIC, BYD, etc., for export to the Persian Gulf market.
“Xiangjiangkou” is an LNG dual-fuel powered car carrier built in Nansha, Guangzhou and delivered for operation this year. Equipped with LNG dual-fuel system and designed to meet the strict TIER III emission standards of the International Maritime Organization, the PCTC will save energy and reduce emissions significantly during operation, making it a green, intelligent, environmentally friendly and efficient car carrier.
It is also equipped with an offshore automobile ship digital intelligence platform, which can monitor the status of vehicles in real time, realize the precise positioning of vehicles during transportation, and provide customers with a “visualization” experience of the whole chain of the automobile logistics supply chain.
It is reported that since its establishment, Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping has attached great importance to the digital construction, actively integrated into the digital transformation and development of Special Transportation, and closely cooperated with the Digital Department of Special Transportation and relevant institutions to develop the PCTC distribution system, which was formally put on line and used in July 2023. It completely solved the company’s history of no independent property rights distribution system, and in December of the same year, it was put into trial operation to realize “one-key intelligent distribution”, reaching the world’s leading level.
At present, the automobile ships operated by Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping have all been equipped with digital intelligence platform. The platform utilizes 5G and satellite signal automatic switching technology to realize remote video monitoring, regular map capturing, real-time warning and other functions, which can real-time monitor the temperature of vehicles and cargo compartments during loading and unloading and transportation, to provide high-temperature warnings and alarms to ensure the safety and quality of transportation of vehicles, especially new-energy vehicles, and to better serve the global automobile international transportation market.
Xiangjiangkou” was built by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) and officially named and delivered on December 12, which is the 10th PCTC delivered by GSI in 2024. It is 199.9 meters long, 38 meters wide, with a design draft of 8.6 meters and a service speed of 19 knots. It has 12 vehicle cabins, including 8 fixed vehicle decks and 4 liftable decks., including 8 fixed vehicle decks and 4 liftable decks.
Xiangjiangkou” is a joint project of GSI, CITIC Financial Leasing, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers and Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping. After delivery, it will be chartered by COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers’s Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping and put into the route between China and the Middle East Persian Gulf to serve the countries along the “Belt and Road”.
