Recently, Hengli Heavy Industries’ 82000DWT bulk carrier “BH PROGRESS” and Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding’s 210,000DWT bulk carrier first bulk carrier “MINERAL PORTUGAL” have completed sea trials. Both vessels are equipped with Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research institute’s (SMDERI) shaft generator system.
As the vessels are put into operation one after another, the application performance of SMDERI’s shaft generator system has gradually appeared, and feedbacks have been received from Adani, Qingdao Winning, Changhai Shipping etc.
Up to now, 30 ship sets of shaft generator devices have been successfully delivered and put into use, with robust operation status and significant energy-saving effect, bringing rich economic benefits and significant environmental benefits for shipowners, and winning wide praise from users.
It is reported that since 2021, SMDERI has become a trusted and chosen partner of many shipowners with its excellent product performance and customized solutions, and has successfully signed orders for more than 120 ship sets of shaft-mounted hug-shaft belt generator systems, covering a variety of ship types such as bulk carriers, container ships, and oil and chemical ships. The product power ranges from 400kW to 4500kW, and the longest single-unit operating time exceeds 12,000 hours.
