On December 12, Guangzhou Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), named and delivered a 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel pure car and track carrier (PCTC) “Xiangjiangkou” for CITIC Financial Leasing. This is the 10th PCTC GSI has delivered in 2024, which was completed and delivered 199 days ahead of the contract period.
“Xiangjiangkou” was is a meticulously built by GSI, in collaboration with CITIC Financial Leasing, COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers, and Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping to achieve the common goal of “national ships, national construction”, “national vehicles, national transportation” and “national goods, national transportation”. After delivery, the vessel will be leased by COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers’ subsidiary, Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping, and will be deployed on the China to Middle East Persian Gulf route, serving countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative.
“Xiangjiangkou” is 199.9 meters long, 38 meters wide, with a designed draft of 8.6 meters and a service speed of 19 knots. It has a total of 12 vehicle decks, including 8 fixed vehicle decks and 4 liftable decks.
During the construction process of the vessel, lean management was deeply promoted. By promoting the “PCTC Construction 5.0” process plan, and with the strong cooperation and assistance of the shipowner and ship inspection, the vessel’s construction work achieved many breakthroughs.
