COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian)’s Independently Developed Two Ship Types Gain AIPs

Recently, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) has made important breakthroughs in the independent research and development of ship types, and two ship types have obtained the AIP certifications from the classification societies.

Among them, FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) unit floating hull independent research and development project has obtained AIP certificate issued by ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), and the independent research and development project of 49,900 DWT MR product oil and chemical tanker has obtained AIP certificates from CCS (China Classification Society) and ABS.

The FPSO adopts the “universal” floating hull design scheme, which can realize diversified deck module arrangement according to the requirements of shipowners in the future. This design not only improves the flexibility of the vessel, but also provides more possibilities for subsequent operations. The 49,900 DWT MR product and chemical tanker, after multiple iterations of general layout optimization and hull design, features larger cargo hold volume and better cargo adaptability, meeting higher transportation demands.

COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) has always adhered to the green and low-carbon design concept. The vessel is equipped with a variety of energy-saving devices such as shaft generators, and a methanol fuel tank is reserved to ensure that the most stringent gas emission standards in the future to met.

These innovative designs not only enhance the market competitiveness of vessels, but also respond to global requirements for environmental protection and sustainable development. Next, based on this recognition, the project R&D team will continue to improve subsequent design tasks, strive to bring new products to the market, and promote corporate sustainable development and technological innovation.
