World’s First Large Ore Carrier with Intelligent Photovoltaic System Successfully Generates Electricity

Recently, the “world’s latest generation of large ore carrier intelligent photovoltaic power generation system” installed on the 250,000 DWT large ore carrier “Shandong Hexie” under Shandong Shipping Corporation(SDSC) successfully generated electricity on board and connected to the grid for the first time. China Classification Society (CCS) issued the world’s first “Solar Photovoltaic System (SPV)” classification certificate for this project.

The system was jointly developed by Suzhou Zhongna Electric Co., Ltd. and SDSC. It adopts advanced “three-phase micro-inverter” and “remote intelligent diagnosis” photovoltaic power generation technology, making full use of idle open spaces on the ship’s compass deck, driving deck.

By installing 144 latest generation solar panels, the system efficiently converts solar energy through intelligent photovoltaic power generation control equipment, creating a “microgrid system” that collaborates with the main diesel power grid system. Once operational, this system is expected to reduce fuel consumption by 33 tons and carbon emissions by 102.8 tons annually.

Suzhou Zhongna Electric Co., Ltd. was established in 2018 and is committed to the development and application of new energy in the marine field. Its independently developed micro inverter is the world’s first marine inverter certified by ABS PDA, and its delivered intelligent marine photovoltaic power generation system has been approved by classification societies such as CCS, ABS, LR, and BV.

Currently, the total installed power of the marine photovoltaic project orders obtained by Suzhou Zhongna Electric Co., Ltd. is about 7MW.
