China’s first large-scale FLNG “NGUYA FLNG” departs for outfitting

According to the Jiangsu Maritime Bureau, on December 9, China’s first large-scale floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit “NGUYA FLNG” built by Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry went to Zhoushan Shipyard wharf for subsequent outfitting.

On November 23rd, Wison New Energies held the launching and naming ceremony of the NGUYA FLNG at its Nantong base.

The NGUYA FLNG project was signed between Wison New Energies and Eni Group in December 2022. It is a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility with an annual production capacity of 2.4 million tons. The NGUYA FLNG, measuring 350 meters in length, 60 meters in breadth, and 35 meters in depth, is expected to achieve intake conditions by the end of 2025. Upon completion, the NGUYA FLNG will be deployed offshore near Pointe-Noire, Republic of the Congo, where it will allow Eni Congo LNG project to reach the plateau rate and export about 4,5 billion cubic meters per year. The successful implementation of this project will further deepen cooperation between Wison and Eni in line with respective targets in the energy transition process.

After completion of the project, NGUYA FLNG will be deployed offshore Pointe-Noire, Brazzaville, Congo (Brazzaville), helping Eni’s LNG project to achieve an annual export production of 4.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The successful implementation of this project will further promote the in-depth cooperation between Wison and Eni in the energy sector, and help energy transformation and sustainable development.
