On December 3, Nanjing Maritime Safety Administration issued a water and underwater construction permit for the demolition phase of the second phase of the reconstruction of the Xinshengwei Terminal at Nanjing Port. This is the first wharf construction permit issued after the approval of the Nanjing Port Overall Plan (2024-2035), marking the full launch of a series of upgrade projects at Nanjing Port and the first step in the overall layout of Nanjing’s “one port, thirteen areas”.
According to reports, the second phase of the reconstruction project of the Xinshengwei Terminal of Nanjing Port is one of the two special pilot projects in Jiangsu Province to optimize the functions of ports and enhance the transportation power. It is planned to adopt water construction methods such as dismantling the original dock structure, dredging, and setting up new pile foundations and piers to transform and upgrade the original berth into three 70,000-ton berths. After completion, it will substantially improve the berthing capacity of ships in the Xinshengwei Terminal.
It is reported that according to the “Nanjing Port Overall Plan (2024-2035)”, more than 90 new berths will be added in the port, and 17 key projects such as the Longtan Phase VII Project, the Xiba Port Tongjiangji Operation Area General Berth Project, and the Longyu Wharf will be started in the next three years, with direct investment exceeding RMB 11.7 billion.
