On December 2, the listed company Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yangzijiang Shipbuilding”) announced orders for 21 new ships with a total contract value of US$2.63 billion, including 6 LNG dual-fuel 17,000TEU container ships, 6 methanol dual-fuel 13,000TEU container ships, 4 39,000 DWT MR tankers, 2 4,300TEU container ships and 3 45,000DWT bulk carriers.
According to ship brokers, an order for four 39,000 DWT MR product tankers has been placed by Greek shipowner Evalend Shipping. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2028. Each vessels costs approximately $48 million, with the total for all four vessels amounting to $192 million.
Evalend Shipping is an old customer of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and has placed orders for several tankers of different specifications at the shipyard.
In June this year, Evalend Shipping placed an order for four 75,000 DWT LR1 product tankers at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, bringing its orders for the same type of vessels at the shipyard to 10. The price of each vessel is between US$54 million and US$56 million and is expected to be delivered in 2027.
In addition, among the 21 new ships announced by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, 6 LNG dual-fuel 17,000TEU container ships are from Maersk, 6 methanol dual-fuel 13,000TEU container ships are from Japan Ocean Network Shipping (ONE), 2 4,300TEU container ships are from Greek feeder container ship owner Euroseas, and 3 45,000 DWT bulk carriers are from Bulgarian shipowner Navibulgar.
So far this year, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has signed orders for 119 ships with a total value of US$14.27 billion, far exceeding the annual order target of US$4.5 billion and setting a historical high.
