On December 3rd, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully held the naming ceremony for the “SG AQUAMARINE,” the first 180,000 DWT LNG dual-fuel Capesize bulker built for NYK, in cooperation with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC).
It is reported that the “SG AQUAMARINE” is the first LNG dual-fuel Capesize bulk carrier in the NYK fleet, meeting NYK’s commitment to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.
The vessel is classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) . It has a total length of 292 meters, a beam of 45.0 meters, a depth of 24.9 meters, a design draft of 18.3 meters, a design speed of 15.25 knots, and is powered by a MAN B&W 6G70ME-C10.5 main engine.
In terms of energy conservation and environmental protection, the vessel is equipped with self-developed energy-saving ducts, which continuously improve the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and achieve energy-saving and emission reduction effects.
In terms of technology, the vessel continues to advance the modular design of the FGSS (Fuel Gas Supply System), optimizing the installation phase and increasing the rate of pre-outfitting, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
