On November 29th, BYD’s second Ro-Ro vessel “BYD CHANGZHOU” departed from Yantai, Shandong Province, taking on nearly 5,000 BYD’s new energy vehicles at Lianyungang and Taicang ports in Jiangsu Province, and then sailing to Bristol port in the UK and Rotterdam port in the Netherlands.
Built in accordance with the highest international standards, “BYD CHANGZHOU” is 199.9 meters in length, has 7,000 standard parking spaces and is powered by LNG dual-fuel technology to reduce carbon emissions during transportation. The first vessel in the series was “EXPLORER NO.1”, which set sail on January 15, 2024, with a capacity of 7,000 standard parking spaces.
As previously reported, “BYD CHANGZHOU” was launched in Yantai, Shandong Province in October this year, which is BYD’s second car carrier named after a vehicle base after “BYD Hefei”, and also the second vessel in BYD’s self-built fleet.
Against the background of the rapid development of China’s shipping industry and the continuous record high auto exports, the addition of “BYD CHANGZHOU” will further enhance the competitiveness of BYD in the international shipping market, and help BYD to accelerate the expansion of its overseas market.
In recent years, China’s automobile exports have increased dramatically, with 5.28 million units exported from January to October 2024, a year-on-year increase of 25%. BYD controls the logistics chain through its own fleet, significantly reducing transportation costs and time and improving market response. This is crucial to enhance BYD’s competitiveness in the global market.
As the global champion of new energy vehicles, BYD has been accelerating its overseas business layout in recent years. Up to now, BYD’s new energy vehicles have entered 99 countries and regions around the world. With more ro-ro vessels coming into operation, BYD will further provide consumers around the world with more high-quality, environmentally friendly new energy vehicle products and promote the green transformation of the global automotive industry.
