China’s first polar expedition cruise ship to be put into operation soon

On November 26th, a delivery ceremony was held for China’s first polar expedition cruise ship “Seaventure” at Chu Kong Shipping Enterprise (Holding) in Hong Kong. As the flagship of the world’s first polar cruise brand “66 Degrees Expeditions Cruises,” led by Chinese capital and fully operated by Chinese enterprises, the delivery of “Seaventure” marks a historic step for China in the field of polar expedition tourism.

According to the agreement, “Seaventure” cruise ship will be operated by 66 Degrees Expeditions. This company is jointly invested by Guangdong Provincial Tourism Holdings, Guangdong Provincial Port & Shipping Group and private shareholders, and is committed to creating a high-end brand of polar adventure tourism.

Zou Quan, Vice General Manager of 66 Degrees Expedition Cruises, stated, “The delivery of ‘Seaventure’ signifies the comprehensive involvement of Chinese people in the polar cruise industry, from investment to operation.” He added, “This not only fills the gap in China’s polar expedition cruise sector but also provides Chinese tourists with more personalized and culturally tailored services.”

It is reported that “Seaventure” is the world’s first cruise ship tailor-made for polar adventure travel, but also the first around the North Pole voyage adventure cruise ship. The cruise ship has crossed the Northeast Passage twice and the Northwest Passage nine times, with rich experience in polar navigation and excellent safety performance. The maximum capacity of the cruise ship is 150 passengers, and it is a small boutique expedition cruise ship that can go deep into the fjords of the North and South Poles.

It is reported that the “Seaventure” is expected in May 2025 to officially open the North and South Pole route.
