Navibulgar places order for six bulk carriers at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding

Bulgarian shipowner Navibulgar has placed an order for six bulk carriers with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, with a total value of more than US$200 million.

The order includes three 32,000 dwt bulk carriers and three 45,000 dwt bulk carriers. The new vessels comply with IMO Energy Efficiency Index Stage III standards and Tier III NOx emission standards.

It is understood that Navibulgar first cooperated with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in 2017 and has ordered more than 20 bulk carriers with specifications of 31,800/32,000 dwt and 45,000 dwt.

The 31,800 dwt bulk carrier has a length of 189.98m, a breadth of 23.70m and depth of 14.60m with a design draught of 10.00m. The vessel is not only able to meet the requirements of navigating in the Great Lakes of North America and the St. Lawrence Canal, but also achieves the largest loading capacity amongst Great Lakes bulk carriers of the same type and class.

The 45000 dwt bulk carrier is 190 meters long, with a structural draft of 10.8 meters and a service speed of 14 knots. The vessel meets the requirements of 1C ice class, and is also installed with desulfurization tower and energy saving device, which is more energy-saving, efficient and environmentally friendly than similar handysize bulk carriers.

As of November 7, 2024, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has received 98 new orders valued at USD 11.64 billion, which is 259% of the target task of new orders received for the year. Meanwhile, 57 new vessels have been completed and delivered, realizing 90% of the annual target of 63 new vessel deliveries.
