On November 24, the second new generation 66,000DWT Ultramax bulk carrier “JAL KALASH” built by Yangzi Mitsui Shipbuilding for Singaporean shipowner Jaldhi Overseas was delivered and put into operation and started its maiden voyage.
This vessel is the first wide-body, shallow-draft, new generation Ultramax bulk carrier built by Yangzi Mitsui based on the MES-S design upgrade and compliant with Tier III and EEDI Phase III standards.
The construction of the vessel started in mid-January, 2024 and all the test results meet the design standard. It is the 14th vessel delivered by Yangzi Mitsui Shipbuilding this year.
On the morning of November 22, Yangzi Mitsui Shipbuilding held a naming ceremony for the vessel and signed for delivery.
The project was signed in September 2022 and includes four vessels. Jaldhi Overseas said the newbuildings are part of the company’s fleet expansion plan.
