On November 21, the COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian)’s 300,000-ton floating dock “Dalian” conversion project reached two key milestones: the forming of the lengthened main hull segment and the installation of the water jacket fittings, marking that this major upgrade and renovation project has entered a new stage and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent launching.
The extended section of the “Dalian” floating dock is 70 meters long, 86 meters wide, 27.2 meters high with weighs about 7,300 tons, and is divided into 64 assembly sections.
The water jacket fittings is 92 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, and weighs about 110 tons. It is constructed by the overall construction of the slipway and the overall lifting of the sea crane. The successful completion of the two key nodes reflects the efficient execution of the project team and provides a guarantee for the subsequent construction progress.
As the extended section of the main hull takes shape, the project team will speed up the assembly of the dock wall sections and strive to complete the fire work of the main hull before the end of November, creating good conditions for subsequent painting and other professional projects.
The converted “Dalian” floating dock will be 410 meters long, 86 meters wide and 27 meters deep, and will become one of the largest floating docks in the world.
After the project is put into operation, it can meet the market demand for repair and conversion of high value-added ships, such as large oil tankers, large ore carriers, large container ships and so on.
Meanwhile, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian) will continue to strengthen its FPSO offshore conversion business, consolidate and maintain its leading position in the FPSO conversion business, and provide a strong guarantee for the efficient operation of the Group’s large-scale transportation fleet as well as the international shipping market.
