Nantong Zhenhua Heavy Equipment Manufacturing set to build Drydocks World’s 5,000-ton floating sheerleg crane

On November 20, Nantong Zhenhua Heavy Equipment Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC), held a steel cutting ceremony for the 5,000-ton floating sheerleg crane being built for Drydocks World.

It is understood that the crane is the lifting equipment for the 5,000-ton floating sheerleg crane ship for Drydocks World.

The ship was built by ZPMC, with a total length of 138. me5ters, a beam of 52 meters, a designed draft of 5.8 meters and a crew of 58. The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 5,000 tons, is equipped with 4 main hooks, each with a lifting capacity of 1,250 tons, and a maximum lifting height of 120 meters above the deck. It is equipped with 1 auxiliary hook, with a lifting capacity of 600 tons and a maximum lifting height of 180 meters above the deck. The crane has a service life of 30 years under normal operation.

The commencement of construction of this project marks a solid step forward for ZPMC and Drydocks World in the field of offshore engineering equipment. After delivery, the ship will become the largest crane ship of its kind in the Persian Gulf and Africa, significantly improving the heavy lifting capacity in the region.

Located in Dubai, Drydock World is the largest ship repair yard in the Middle East with three docks, a floating dock and more than 3,700 meters of shoreline on nearly 1 million square meters of land.
