Joint Research and Development Center for Sustainable Marine Fuels was established in China

Recently, the Joint Research and Development Center for Sustainable Marine Fuels was established at Dalian Maritime University.

The “Joint Research and Development Center for Sustainable Marine Fuels” was jointly initiated by Dalian Maritime University, Liaoning Maritime Safety Administration, China Marine Bunker (PetroChina), China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers, Liaoning Port Group, China Energy Engineering Hydrogen Energy, and Dalian Xizhong Island Development Group. It aims to serve China’s “dual carbon” strategic goals and fulfill the obligations of relevant international conventions, and produce a number of cutting-edge technologies with industry application prospects.

The main research directions of the center include international conventions and regulations on decarbonization of ships, low-carbon marine fuel scale production technology, low-carbon marine fuel application and safety, big data of global shipping fuel production and supply chain, and China’s sustainable marine fuel standard certification and development countermeasures.
