Hanwha Ocean Receives Order for 2 VLGCs

On November 18, Hanwha Ocean announced that it has signed a contract with an Asian shipowner for two VLGCs.

The order amount is US$237 million. The new VLGCs will be built at Hanwha Ocean’s Geoje shipyard and delivered in November 2027.

On November 11, Hanwha Ocean announced that it had received an order for two LNG carriers from Maran Gas Maritime, a subsidiary of Angelikousis Group, the largest shipping company in Greece. The total value is approximately US$511 million, with a single ship costing approximately US$256 million.

So far this year, Hanwha Ocean has received orders for a total of 42 ships valued at US$8.15 billion. Classified by ship type, it includes 18 LNG carriers, 1 FSRU, 2 VLGCs, 7 VLCCs, 6 container ships, 3 ammonia carriers, 1 offshore ship, and 3 special ships.

Hanwha Ocean claimed that its new order intake this year is the highest among all shipyards in Korea, using individual shipyards as a comparison.
