HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Receives Order for 2 VLGCs from an Asian Shipping Company

On November 18, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business, announced that it had received an order worth 340.3 billion won (about US$244.7 million) from an Asian shipping company to build two very large gas carriers (VLGCs), with a cost of approximately US$122 million each.

The new buildings will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered in December 2027.

So far this year, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has received orders for 177 vessels worth $19.8 billion, exceeding its annual target of $13.5 billion.

Classified by ship type, it includes 8 LNG carriers, 7 LNG bunkering vessels, 62 product oil tankers, 50 LPG/ammonia carriers, 24 container ships, 3 ethane carriers, 2 liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, 6 VLCCs, 7 oil tankers, 2 car carriers, 1 floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), 1 offshore installation, and 4 special vessels.
