Athens-based shipping company Monte Nero Maritime has ordered up to four 50,000 dwt MR product tankers from COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong), which are expected to be delivered in 2027, According to TradeWinds. The cost of each vessel is in line with the market price, ranging from US$43 million to US$44 million.
According to sources, Monte Nero Maritime has signed a firm order for two 50,000 dwt MR product tankers with options for two vessels of the same type.
In July this year, Monte Nero Maritime has ordered four 50,000 dwt MR2 product tankers from China’s Huanghai Shipbuilding, which are expected to be delivered in 2026 to 2027, according to a previous report. The cost of a single vessel is about US$45 million, and the total value of the order is about US$180 million (about RMB 1.309 billion), which is expected to be delivered in 2026 to 2027.
COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Guangdong) covers an area of 710,000 square meters, with one 150,000-ton floating dock, two 80,000-ton docks, four slipways, seven deep-water docks, and a total coastline of more than 2,000 meters.
Recently, the company organized a special meeting on the implementation phase of the shipbuilding restart work plan, requiring all personnel in the manufacturing system to unify their thinking and implement all work related to restarting shipbuilding with a high sense of responsibility and mission.
