On November 9, the No. 2 NG20000-type wind power installation vessel customized by COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore for the foreign shipowner entered the commissioning stage.
It is reported that the vessel, Wind Pace, is one of the five vessels ordered by Danish shipowner Cadeler and is scheduled to be completed and delivered in the second quarter of 2025.
The vessel has 5,600 square meters of deck space, a payload of more than 17,600 tons, a main crane lifting capacity of more than 2,500 tons, and for the first time adopts hybrid oil-electric power, with a living area that can accommodate 130 people.
The vessel features a deck area of 5,600 square meters, with a payload capacity exceeding 17,600 tons and a main crane lifting capacity of over 2,500 tons. It employs a hybrid diesel-electric power system for the first time and has living quarters that can accommodate 130 people.
The vessel can transport and install 7 complete 15MW wind turbines or 5 turbines of 20MW and above in a single trip. It is currently the world’s most technologically advanced, environmentally friendly, and highest-spec jack-up offshore wind installation vessel.
Once in operation, it will support the construction and development of offshore green energy by transporting, lifting, and installing offshore wind turbines, connectors, and foundations. Additionally, it can dismantle and recycle offshore equipment, promoting resource recycling and contributing to low-carbon emissions reduction.
COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore’s NG20000 series of vessels integrates advanced design concepts, high-end manufacturing technology and intelligent management system, specially designed to cope with the complex sea conditions in deep sea, which can meet the installation needs of current and future offshore wind power projects.
Cadeler is the world’s largest wind power installation vessel owner, owning and operating the industry’s largest and most versatile fleet of jack-up offshore wind power installation vessels. The company has ordered two P-class vessels and three A-class vessels from COSCO SHIPPING (Qidong) Offshore. The first P-class vessel, Wind Peak, was delivered in August this year, and the three A-class vessels will be delivered from 2025 to 2027 in succession.
