Wallenius Wilhelmsen Secures Multi-Year $580M Shipping Contract with Leading Automotive Manufacturer

Norwegian car carrier operator Wallenius Wilhelmsen has signed a multi-year shipping contract with a prominent automotive manufacturer. The Oslo-listed company announced that the new deal, valued at $580 million, will span three years and three months, commencing on January 1, 2025.

Pia Synnerman, Chief Customer Officer at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, commented on the agreement: “This demonstrates their commitment to securing long-term ocean capacity and will further strengthen our partnership.”

The company noted that the rates for this contract are in line with current market levels.

On November 8, Wallenius Wilhelmsen announced that it had exercised its option to purchase two 11,700 CEU “Shaper” class pure car and track carriers (PCTCs) at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) and to upgrade two 9,300 CEU PCTCs to 11,700 CEU.
