On November 6, the 10th Franco-Chinese Innovation Award 2024 Ceremony was held at the 7th 7th China International Import Exposition (CIIE). The LNG containment system equipped with the innovative NO96 Super+ membrane, jointly built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and GTT Group (an engineering company specializing in LNG storage and maritime transportation), won the Innovation Product Award.
On May 15 this year, the world’s first LNG carrier equipped with the NO96 Super+ cargo containment system, the Greenenergy Ocean, was delivered. The NO96 SUPER+ containment system adopts a new design of insulation panels and connectors. The daily evaporation rate of the entire ship is as low as 0.085%, which can significantly reduce the loss of natural gas during marine transportation, bringing significant economic and environmental benefits. It is currently the most advanced membrane containment system in the world.
In October 2023, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding completed the first cabin inspection of the world’s first NO.96 SUPER+ containment system with zero leakage points, which was highly praised by the shipowner.
It is understood that the French-Chinese Innovation Award aims to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of innovation between China and France. Three categories of awards have been set up for this award ceremony: R&D refers to unprecedented breakthrough innovations; innovative products refer to innovative products with registered patents on the market; and the first category is used for significant non-patent innovations, such as organizational practices, ideas, software and business models that have been deployed within the organization.
