Chipolbrok (Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company) has placed order with CSSC Chengxi Shipyard for two of the world’s largest multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels, which are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2026.
The new buildings have a deadweight of 62,000 tons, which is similar to the specifications of the six multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels that Chipolbrok received from 2021 to 2024.
As early as April 2020, Chipolbrok placed an order for four multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels at CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, which were delivered successively from 2021 to 2022. Subsequently, Chipolbrok and Shengsi Pusheng Shipping ordered two vessels of the same series at Taizhou Kouan shipbuilding, which were delivered in December 2023 and August this year respectively.
This vessel is the world’s largest multi-purpose heavy-lift vessel in terms of the deadweight tonnage. It has a length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a depth of 19.3 meters, and a fully loaded draft of 13.5 meters. The vessel is equipped with four heavy-lift cranes on the side, with a combined lifting capacity of up to 300 tons, allowing it to flexibly load large equipment and cargo of various sizes.
It is worth mentioning that in August this year, Chipolbrok ordered two 38,000 DWT multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels from Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC). This is the first time that ZPMC has entered the multi-purpose vessel market. This type of vessel is equipped with three 250-ton cranes, with a combined lifting capacity of 500 tons, two long cargo holds, the largest of which is 76.8 meters long, and a fully open deck.
