ZPMC held a launching ceremony for the pile-driving vessel of CCCC Second Harbor Engineering

On November 11, Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) held a launching ceremony for the 150-meter pile-driving vessel “Erhang Changqing,” which was built for CCCC Second Harbor Engineering.

This vessel is currently the largest pile-driving vessel under construction in the world. It has an overall length of 130.5 meters, a beam of 40.8 meters, a depth of 8.4 meters, and a pile frame height of 150 meters, which can drive piles with a maximum weight of 700 tons and a diameter of 7 meters.

The vessel uses the world’s largest 5000-ton thrust super-large cylinder independently developed in China. It is equipped with a piling positioning system and is the first in the industry to apply diesel-electric hybrid DC networking technology with supercapacitors to further improve fuel economy and reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, it features a piling operation management system that integrates real-time sensing of hydrological parameters, operational decision support, automatic identification of operational processes, and automatic generation of piling data, effectively improving the vessel’s operational intelligence and digitalization level.

According to reports, the vessel is another key project of ZPMC to promote the creation of “heavy equipment for a great country”. The design and construction of the vessel actively respond to China’s call to “develop new quality productivity”.

After the vessel is launched, the work will mainly focus on the variable amplitude test of the pile frame system. The project team will continue to coordinate advantageous resources, strengthen lean production management, and rigidly implement the production plan to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality vessel to the shipowner.
