Nanjing Port takes delivery of the first ASD tugboat with pure-battery propulsion in the Yangtze River

On November 9, 2024, Zhenjiang Shipyard successfully delivered the first ASD tugboat with pure-battery propulsion in the Yangtze River, which was designed and built for Nanjing Port (Group) Co., LTD., and named “NING GANG DIAN TUO 1”.

With a total length of 36.5 meters, a gross tonnage of 417, a width of 10 meters, a depth of 4.5 meters, and a propulsion power of 3000kW, the “NING GANG DIAN TUO 1” is equipped with completely independent intellectual property rights of li-battery system, DC power distribution system, permanent magnet motor, which can achieve zero emission, low noise and zero pollution.

The company has completed the design and construction of the ship in one year, and all technical performance indicators have reached and exceeded the requirements of the technical specifications, which is another landmark product of the company’s implementation of green, environmental protection and low-carbon technology upgrading in the field of special engineering ships in China.

As a key demonstration application project in the “Three-year Action Plan for the High-quality Development of Jiangsu New Energy Ship Industry (2023-2025)”, “NING GANG DIAN TUO 1” is also the first zero-emission pure battery-powered ASD tugboat on the Yangtze River that has obtained the symbol of an inland waterway green ship, filling the gap of pure battery-powered tugboat in China’s Yangtze River inland port operation. It is a substantial measure for Nanjing Port to practice green and low-carbon port construction.
