On November 6, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) successfully launched the 75,000 LTC floating dock project, which will enter the dock commissioning phase and the stage for completing the cabin coating.

The floating dock is classed by ABS, with a length of 360 meters, a width of 68 meters, a top deck height of 28 meters and a designed lifting capacity of 75,000 tons. It is equipped with 4 cranes and advanced automatic monitoring systems, with a total capacity exceeding that of three 63,600-ton bulk carriers, and can accommodate the construction and repair of 300,000-ton ships.

It is understood that the floating dock is divided into three blocks. After the construction of the three blocks is completed, they will be launched simultaneously, and were assembled and joined in one. This solution greatly shortens the hull construction period and the company’s dry dock resources. This program greatly shortened the hull construction cycle and the occupation of the company’s dry dock resources.

On October 19, the three ring blocks of the project achieved overall closure. And during the docking period, the main hull molding, installation of all kinds of electromechanical equipment, pipe system tightness, cabin tightness, outer plate painting and other projects were completed, which ensured the smooth launching of the floating dock was launched as planned.
