A few days ago, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Shanghai), a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, successfully delivered the first cable-laying repairing vessel – Zhonghaike 1.
This vessel is the most advanced independent power cable laying vessel in China, with a length of 108.56 meters, a width of 24 meters, a total cable loading capacity of 3,000 tons, and a full-load displacement of 10,705 tons.
Equipped with advanced electric drive system, the vessel has a total output power of 10,260 kilowatts and DP2 power positioning technology, which enables it to operate stably in any sea area in the world, with strong wind and wave resistance and unlimited navigation area.
Since the start of the project at the end of August 2023, Shanghai COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has made every effort to promote the progress of the project by starting from three aspects: structural retrofitting, precision installation of cable-laying equipments, and mooring test of special functional equipments. Meanwhile, the shipbuilder has also set up a key technical team to carry out technical research and precise design, and formulated a series of practical solutions to ensure the orderly progress of production modification.
Precise installation of cable-laying equipment is another major difficulty in the transformation of Zhonghaike 1. Many of the equipment on this vessel are the latest generation of top-notch equipment customized for cable construction. As the installation and commissioning of these equipments are extremely demanding, the project team started detailed planning at the early stage of the project, closely negotiated and communicated with the equipment manufacturers, and was always on the front line in the key details, which finally ensured the smooth installation and commissioning of all the equipments.
With the completion of Zhonghaike 1, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Shanghai)’s excellent strength and technical advantages in the field of special vessel conversion have been fully verified, which is a milestone achievement in the history of the enterprise’s development, and plays a significant role in the construction of a scientific and technological power and an oceanic power.
