QMW steel cut for EPCIC project for offshore oil and gas platform of Qatar

The McDermott and Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW) consortium has achieved a pivotal milestone with the first steel cut for the Ruya B1 EPCIC Package 11. The event, which took place on October 30, 2024, at QMW fabrication yard, marks the commencement of the fabrication phase for both the WHPs topsides and jackets.

The package encompasses the fabrication of nine satellite wellhead platforms and jackets, with a total weight exceeding 90,000 metric tons. This development is a crucial part of the next phase of the Al-Shaheen field, Qatar’s largest oil field, located offshore.

The McDermott and QMW consortium is committed to executing the Ruya B1 EPCIC Package 11 with excellence, ensuring a ‘ZERO Defect and ZERO Hurt’ approach throughout the project. The fabrication is scheduled in two campaigns: Campaign 1, which includes 5 topsides and 5 jackets, is set to be ready for sail away from December 2025 to July 2026; Campaign 2, comprising 4 topsides and 4 jackets, is planned for sail away from October 2027 to February 2028.
