On October 28, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), started the construction of the first ship of the 50,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel chemical/product oil tanker project for Vietnam ASP.
This chemical/product oil tanker is a new generation of methanol dual-fuel tanker independently developed by GSI. It has a total length of 182.99 meters, a beam of 32 meters, a structural draft of 11 meters, a designed speed of 14.5 knots at low draft, and is equipped with a methanol dual-fuel power system. Its emission standards meet the TIERⅢ standards of the International Maritime Organization, and its EEDI energy efficiency index reaches Phase 3. It is a green ship that integrates energy saving, environmental protection, and high efficiency.
It is reported that the signing ceremony for two chemical/product oil tankers of ASP’s 50,000-ton methanol dual-fuel chemical/finished oil tanker project was held in Greece in June this year. The project set two “fastest records” of only two weeks from contact to signing and just over four months from signing to commencement.
It is reported that the project held a signing ceremony in Greece in June this year. The project created two “fastest records”: only 2 weeks from contact to signing, and only more than 4 months from signing to start of construction.
ASP was established in 2021 and is headquartered in Vietnam. It is a private shipping company. This project is the first time that GSI has cooperated with ASP and also the first time that GSI has cooperated with a Vietnamese shipowner.
The implementation of this project fully demonstrates GSI’s strong market development capabilities and also lays the foundation for GSI to further expand the Southeast Asian market and enhance its brand market influence.
