Seaspan’s last 7,000 TEU Container Ship is named successfully

On October 29th, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC), successfully named the 10th container ship “ONE RESPONSIBILITY” in the 7,000 TEU series built for Seaspan. The series of ships came to a successful conclusion.

“ONE RESPONSIBILITY” is the last one of the 10 medium-sized 7000 TEU container ships series. It has an overall length of 272.00 meters, a beam of 42.8 meters and a design draft of 15 meters with a design speed of 21.0 kn. It meets the TIER Ⅲ specification, and is classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

It is an environmentally friendly ship with superior fuel efficiency. The container ship utilizes state-of-the-art technology to ensure safe and stable operation in the complex global maritime environment.

“ONE RESPONSIBILITY” is an upgraded version of the series, with more advanced configuration and more refrigerated containers. Its power station has been changed from low voltage to medium voltage, so the transformer power is bigger. In addition, there are new medium-voltage switchboards and several distribution boards and four medium-voltage generators with more power.

It is understood that since the two sides signed the contract for ten 7000TEU container ships in October 2021, the two sides have witnessed the whole process of smooth delivery of the Seaspan series. The first 7000 TEU container ship started at the end of October 2022 and was delivered as scheduled in 2023. In just two years, the Seaspan series of ten 7000TEU container ships have all been successfully delivered.
