SWS cut steel for GRIMALDI’s 9,000 CEU PCTC

On October 28, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, held a steel cutting ceremony for a 9,000 CEU PCTC built for GRIMALDI.

It is reported that this is the third 9000 car PCTC ship built by Waigaoqiao Shipyard for GRIMALDI. It is built in accordance with the specifications of RINA.

The PCTC has a total length of 199.90 meters, a width of 38.0 meters, a depth of 14.8 meters, a design draft of 9.2 meters, a design speed of 19.0kn. Equipped with a MAN B&W 7S60MEC10.6-HPSCR main engine, it meets the TIER II/III specifications.

It is reported that Grimaldi Euromed, a subsidiary of the Grimaldi Group, placed an order with SWS in January 2023 for five 9,000 CEU PCTCs, and exercised an option for two vessels of the same type in May 2023, with a total value of more than $630 million for seven PCTCs.
