SC Shipping (Shanghai)’s 25,900DWT Stainless Steel Chemical Tanker Breaks Ground at WS

On October 25th, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group (“WS”), an affiliate of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) held a steel cutting ceremony for the first 25,900 dwt stainless steel chemical tanker built for SC Shipping (Shanghai).

As previously reported, in May 2024, WS received an order from SC Shipping (Shanghai) for 5+5 25,900 dwt chemical tankers, with a total price not exceeding RMB 3.2 billion including tax. The new buildings will be completed and delivered one after another in 2-4 years (expected from 2026 to 2028), classed by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and flying Hong Kong flag.

Designed by Shanghai Odely Marine Engineering, the chemical tanker has an overall length of 158.98 meters, a beam of 27 meters, a cargo hold capacity of 29,500 cubic meters, 10 pairs of liquid cargo tanks and 1 pair of oil tanks. It is mainly used for the transportation of chemicals and refined oil products.
