Beihai Shipbuilding breaks ground for two 210,000 DWT bulk carriers ordered by Belgium’s CMB

On October 25, Chinese shipbuilder Beihai Shipbuilding held a steel cutting ceremony for two 210,000 DWT bulk carriers No. 44 and No. 53 built for Belgium’s CMB.

The No. 44 and No. 53 bulk carriers set to build this time are the 18th and 19th ships built by Beihai Shipbuilding for CMB. Among them, the No. 44 bulk carrier is the last ship in the second batch of CMB’s Ammonia Ready series.

The No.53 bulk carrier is the first ship in CMB’s first batch of “ammonia fuel”. It is designed to use the world’s first Win GD 6X72DF-A-1.0 dual-fuel engine. It is an exploration and practice of Beihai Shipbuilding and CMB in the design and construction of new energy ships, which has a positive significance for the development of international green shipping.

In addition, on the same day, the No.8 5500TEU container ship, which was built by Beihai Shipbuilding for France CMA CGM Group, took off from the pier for sea trial.
