On October 24th, the pressure vessel manufacturing base invested by CNOOD-Wenchong Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (CWHI) ushered in an important moment in Cuiheng New District, Zhongshan City. The first 48,000 cbm LPG carriers Type-A tanks was officially started in the base, marking the Wenzhou Heavy Industry to enter the pressure vessel manufacturing market, will effectively fill the blank of large pressure vessel manufacturing market in South China.
This project is a 48000 cbm LPG carrier Type-A tank for Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding. Type-A tanks are the cargo tanks of fully-cooled LPG gas carriers, with the lowest design temperature of the cargo at -50℃, and there are 3 Type-A tanks for each LPG carrier, which are mainly used for transporting LPG and NH3, and are classed by ABS.
The 48,000m3 LPG carrier is the first medium-sized gas carrier undertaken by Huangpu Wencong Shipbuilding, which fills the historical blank of medium-sized gas carrier construction in South China. This project is of great significance for Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding to further focus on green ship type, to enhance the construction strength of high technology and high value-added ship products, and to compete with Japanese and Korean shipyards for more market share in the field of global high-end gas ship products in the future.
CWHI, as the front-runner in the emerging industry of Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, has been laying out the pressure vessel manufacturing market since 2021. The company obtained A2 production license qualification for pressure vessel manufacturing in 2022. And in 2021, it undertook the project of making 9,500 cbm LNG cargo tank (Type-C) and deck tank (Type-C).
In 2023, CWHI undertook another manufacturing project of 933 cbm LPG tanks (Type-C taks), accumulating rich design and production experience for pressure vessel manufacturing. At present, it can design and manufacture large high-pressure vessels (including medium and low-pressure), including fixed and mobile pressure vessels and oxygen tanks, gas cylinders and other products.
With the increasingly fierce competition in the domestic offshore wind power market, CWHI, while consolidating its domestic offshore wind power manufacturing business, has started the transformation and upgrading of the products of the Zhongshan (Cuiheng) base from 2024 onwards to make the base the largest pressure vessel production and manufacturing base in South China.
Covering an area of 350,000 square meters, the base has first-class R&D and production sites including steel yard, discharging supporting center, machining workshop for rusty steel parts, small/medium assembly workshop, segment construction area, coating area and loading and transportation wharf. At present, the base is constructed with 2 full-process production lines for pressure vessels, equipped with advanced equipments such as laser cutting machine, automatic welding of plate unit and integrated T-beam loading and welding machine. The annual production capacity of Type-A tank can reach 20,000t, and the annual production capacity of Type-C tank can reach 20pcs.
