Zhenjiang Shipyard completes the sea trial for a pure battery electric propulsion ASD tugboat

On October 24, 2024, “NING GANG DIAN TUO 1”, the first pure battery electric propulsion ASD tugboat in the Yangtze River designed and built by Zhenjiang Shipyard for Nanjing Port has been successfully completed sea trial.

“NING GANG DIAN TUO 1” has a total length of 36.5 meters, a beam of 10 meters, a draft of 3 meters and a gross tonnage of 417 tons.

It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery system, a DC distribution system and a permanent magnet motor with completely independent intellectual property rights. Its main engine power is 3000KW, using electricity as the only energy source for the entire ship and achieving zero emissions, low noise and zero pollution.

With the joint efforts of shipowners, classification societies (CCS), equipment manufacturers and shipyard project teams, the test results have reached or exceeded the design targets, and won the praise of shipowners, classification societies and other parties.

As a key demonstration application project of the “Three-year Action Plan for the High-quality Development of Jiangsu New Energy Ship Industry (2023-2025)”, “NING GANG DIAN TUO 1” is also the first pure battery electric propulsion ASD tug on the Yangtze River to obtain the green ship symbol, filling the blank of pure electric tug on the Yangtze River port operation in China.
