Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Delivered 8 7000 TEU Container Ships in 3 Months

On September 22, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, CSSC, named and delivered the 7000TEU container ship “Centaurus” built for Singapore X-PRESS Company. So far, the company since June 21 this year after the delivery of the ship type of the first ship, in a short period of three months has been completed and delivered a total of eight 7000TEU container ship.

This ship is a new generation of green, energy-saving and environment-friendly container ship newly developed by SDARI under CSSC. It has an overall length of 272 meters, a beam of 42.8 meters, a depth of 24.6 meters, a full load draft of 15 meters and a deadweight of about 86,000 tons. More than 7,000 standard 20 TEU containers can be loaded on deck and in the cargo hold. In addition, the vessel can also be arranged with 800 refrigerated container sockets, and the deck container arrangement adopts mixed design, which can increase the weight of hatch cover and stacking of containers on the deck.

This type of vessel adopts low resistance linear design, with high-efficiency propeller and full-suspension twisted rudder and rudder ball, which greatly optimizes the rapidity, significantly saves fuel consumption and reduces carbon emission. It is worth mentioning that this type of ship has realized the lightweight design of the whole ship through the overall layout, structural design optimization, etc., which effectively reduces the weight of the empty ship and significantly improves the loading capacity. In terms of vibration and noise control, the ship has also achieved excellent vibration and noise control through ship-wide vibration and noise analysis, overall layout, source control, terminal absorption and other technical means, and the vibration and noise levels of test values are significantly lower than the limits of specifications and rules.

Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding is the first shipbuilding enterprise in the world to develop, design and build more than 300 Capesize bulk carrier, accounting for about 16% of the global Capesize bulk carrier market and ranking first in the world. Aframax tankers design and construction by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has delivered a cumulative total of 50 , accounting for about 5% of the global Aframax tanker operating fleet. In particular, new orders for 13 vessels of this ship type will be received in 2023, accounting for about 50% of the global market share.

In 2020, in order to enhance its comprehensive strength, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, after all-round research and judgment of the ship market, entered the 7000TEU container ship market segment, and has so far received orders for a total of 34 ships of this type, with the first market share in the world.
