CPGC and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry inked for WinGD 9X92DF-M methanol dual-fuel main engines

On October 21, 2024, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou), a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, and CSSC Power (Group) Corporation (CPGC) signed contract for WinGD 9X92DF-M methanol dual-fuel main engines.

The methanol dual-fuel main engine signed this time uses the WinGD 9X92DF-M engine built by CSSC-MES Diesel (CMD) as the main power. It will be installed on the new generation 14,000TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship built by COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) for COSCO Shipping Lines.

This type of ship can meet the third phase energy efficiency design index (EEDI). When using green methanol fuel, it will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet the greenhouse gas emission reduction vision goals set by the IMO for the shipping industry.

COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry said that in recent years, both parties have actively implemented the national strategy of “carbon peak and carbon neutrality”, continued to exert efforts in the new track of green ships, and achieved remarkable results. It is hoped that both parties will further deepen cooperation in scientific and technological research and development on the basis of continuing to deepen the field of green power, so as to help the green transformation of the shipping industry.

CPGC said that this signing is a continuation of the long-term good cooperative relationship between the two parties. CPGC has always been committed to providing advanced technical support, high-quality products and professional services to customers. In the future, the two parties will further expand the breadth and depth of cooperation, carry out all-round and in-depth collaborative cooperation in other related fields, and jointly open a new chapter of high-quality development.
