Jiangnan Shipyard completed the gas trial of a new LNG carrier

In recent years, Shanghai LNG Co., Ltd. (Shanghai LNG) has been committed to green and low-carbon development under the strategic guidance of the “dual carbon”, and has continuously expanded non-traditional businesses such as new LNG carriers gas trial.

On October 13, the gas trial business of Jiangnan Shipyard, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, successfully completed the gas trials of the first newly built LNG carrier at the Yangshan Receiving Terminal of Shanghai LNG.

Jiangnan Shipyard has also become the second major LNG shipbuilder in China to sign a cooperation agreement with Shanghai LNG after Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, marking the further expansion of the non-traditional business market of Shanghai LNG’s gas trials for new ships.

It is reported that the “Al Shelila” is China’s first Mark III Flex membrane large LNG carrier, which is the “LNG JUMBO” series independently developedby Jiangnan Shipyard. With four Mark III Flex membrane liquid cargo tanks, the LNG carrier has a total capacity of 175,000 cubic meters.

Based on the current international mainstream design concept of large LNG carriers, this type of ship meets the latest specifications and industry standards, and its comprehensive performance indicators have reached the international advanced level.

In the future, the rest of the newly built LNG carriers built by Jiangnan Shipyard will also carry out gas trial business at Yangshan Receiving Station.
