Construction of Sallaum Lines’ two 7500 CEU PCTCs made new progress

On October 14, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding), steel cut for a 7,500 CEU dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier) built for Sallaum Lines. On the same day, its sister ship, another 7,500 CEU dual-fuel PCTC, was successfully laid keel.

These two PCTCS contracted in November 2022. The PCTCs has a total length of 199.9 meters, a width of 38 meters, a design draft of 8.65 meters and a maximum draft of 10 meters.

Classed by ABS, the propulsion system of the PCTC is single engine single propeller. It adopts LNG dual fuel main engine, single bow side thrust, electric RORO system. The cargo hold has a total of 13 vehicle decks, which are mainly used for the loading of various types of vehicles including heavy trucks and packaged dangerous goods, and can transport hydrogen and natural gas-fueled new energy vehicles on decks 11, 12 and 13.

With the acceleration of the green and intelligent development of the world shipping industry, the new generation of dual-fuel PCTCs has become the new favorite of major shipping companies with its green and environmental protection characteristics.

The construction of this two PCTCs not only focuses on green environmental protection and energy saving, but also attaches great importance to safety performance. Fitted with an LNG dual-fuel power system, the PCTCs significantly reduces carbon emissions. Coupled with advanced loading monitoring system and safe and reliable RORO equipment, it ensures the safety of vehicle transportation.

Founded in 2011, Sallaum Lines is currently the 10th largest vehicle transport company in the world and is headquartered in Switzerland with offices in Belgium, Germany, Lebanon, USA and Spain. With its own PCTC fleet, it operates mainly routes connecting Europe and the United States with destinations in the North, West, South Africa and the Mediterranean, with plans to cover several new global routes in the coming years based on customer demand and past requirements.
