Korea’s first cruise ferry launched in Dae Sun Shipbuilding

On October 10, Korea’s first cruise ferry, Panstar Miracle, built by Dae Sun Shipbuilding for PanStar Group, a Korean cruise ship and ro-ro service operator, was launched, marking the beginning of the interior outfitting and installation phase of the cruise ferry.

Panstar Group Chairman Kim Hyun-gyeom and other senior executives and representatives of BV Korea attended the naming ceremony. During the ceremony, BV presented a confirmation letter of the process stage containing the unique IMO ship number of “Panstar Miracle”.

In July 2022, PanStar Group signed a shipbuilding contract with Dae Sun Shipbuilding for the Panstar Miracle. Construction of the cruise ferry commenced on October 4, 2023, and the sea trails are scheduled in February 2025 and delivered at the end of March.

After delivery, Panstar Miracle will be deployed in April 2025 on the Busan-Osaka route, as well as on overnight trips to Busan and various theme cruises.

“Panstar Miracle” is the first cruise ferry invested by PanStar Group in Korea. With a gross tonnage of 22,000, it has an overall length of 171 meters, a beam of 25.4 meters. Equipped with 102 staterooms, it can accommodate up to 355 passengers and is capable of carrying up to 254 20-foot containers.

The cruise ferry will be equipped with interiors similar to those of European cruise ships and various recreational facilities such as balcony cabins, outdoor swimming pools and jogging tracks.

It features a line shape design that significantly reduces noise and vibration, and will be the first in Korea to introduce an eco-friendly hybrid propulsion system that dramatically reduces fuel consumption and emissions by adding an electric motor and generator to a diesel engine.
