GTT receives an order from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company for the tank design of two new LNG carriers

On October 10, France GTT announced on its official website that it has received, in the third quarter of 2024, an order from its partner the Chinese shipyard Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC) for the tank design of two new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGC), on behalf of the Chinese ship-owner COSCO Shipping.

GTT will design the tanks of these two vessels, which will each offer a total capacity of 175,000 m³. The tanks will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.

On September 9 this year, Chinese ship-owner COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation announced that it had ordered two 175,000 m³ LNG carriers from DSIC, and signed a shipbuilding contract on September 13, with a total value of about US$509.23 million.

The delivery of the vessels is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.

In addition to the cargo tank design contract for DSIC, GTT also announced on October 8 that it had signed a contract with Samsung Heavy Industries for the design of two 174,000 m³ LNG carriers for the cargo tank, which will be ordered by Asian shipowners and equipped with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT, which is scheduled to be delivered in the first to second quarters of 2027.
