X-PRESS welcomes the third methanol feeder container ship

On October 9, New Dayang Shipyard under SUMEC Group Corporation (SUMEC) held a naming and delivery ceremony for the third methanol dual-fuel feeder container ship built for Singapore X-PRESS, which was named “ECO OSTRO”.

It is reported that “ECO OSTRO” is the third ship of the world’s first batch of methanol feeder container ships. It adopts an advanced, green design concept, the world’s first 5S50ME methanol dual-fuel main engine, the use of hatchless cover design, which greatly reduce the ship’s center of gravity, improve the number of full load containers.

Equipped with energy-saving devices such as shaft generator, controllable propeller, it can meet the requirements of EEDI 3 and Tier 3 emissions. “ECO OSTRO” can operate with zero carbon emissions when using green methanol, which is safe, convenient, powerful and low-emission, and meets the requirements of increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

According to reports, X-PRESS is one of the world’s largest feeder container ship owners, and plays an important role in promoting green shipping and the transition to renewable energy.

The methanol feeder container ship delivered by SUMEC is also the world’s first order for methanol feeder container ship, which reflects SUMEC’s firm commitment to a green, innovative and low-carbon future, and marks a solid step taken by SUMEC in promoting the green and low-carbon development of the shipping industry.
