On October 7, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co. LTD (Changhong International) delivered the eighth 5300TEU container ship “NAVIOS UTMOST”, to the Greek shipowner NAVIOS MARITIME PARTNERS L. P. (Navios Partners) via video link. And the container ship set sail on October 8.
There are 10 5300TEU container ships in this series, with a total length of about 237.8 meters, a beam of 38.8 meters, and a depth of 21.8 meters, which are classed by DNV.
The ship design breaks through the limitations of the narrow hull of traditional container ships and adopts the innovative wide-hull concept to optimize the line shape. It is equipped with an energy-efficient and energy-saving reduced-power main engine, low fuel consumption, and EEDI energy consumption index is more than 30 lower than the baseline index, meeting the Phase 3 requirements.
Equipped with a 2.5- layer lashing bridge, the ship can carry 3,845 TEUs, which is 145-345 TEUs more compared to other designs of the same ship.
In addition, it is equipped with ultra-low sulfur oil system, AMP, SCR and BWMS, which is green and meets the latest specifications.
It is understood that the shipowner Navios Partners has recently returned to the Korean shipbuilding market and exercised the option for two alternative container ship orders previously placed with South Korea’s HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (formerly HANJIN Heavy Industries & Construction (HHIC)). The new ships are expected to be delivered starting March 2027.
