DSIC makes a major breakthrough in the construction of cargo containment system for LNG carriers

Recently, the sound test of 2 cargo holds and the second sound test of 3 cargo holds after TBP/EOB installation of the first 175,000 m3 LNG carrier project, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation(DSIC) build for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), achieved a complete success with zero leakage and zero defects. The successful sound test marks a major breakthrough in the construction of DSIC’s cargo containment system for LNG carriers.

DSIC completed and passed the sound test for two cargo tanks in one day successfully, winning high recognition from the shipowner, ship inspector and GTT.

Sound test is an important milestone in the construction of Mark III cargo containment system. DSIC has successively achieved “zero leakage” in the sound test of three tanks of the first built LNG carrier, which fully proves that DSIC is fully capable of building large LNG carriers in bulk.
