Recently, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co.,Ltd.(CIMC SOE) under CIMC Enric and Wuyang Iron and Steel held the first set of high manganese steel Marine fuel tank delivery and strategic cooperation signing ceremony.
It is reported that the application of high manganese steel on ships marks that CIMC SOE has become the first domestic enterprise with high manganese steel project order acceptance capacity, and can provide diversified and cost-effective solutions for shipowners.
According to the strategic cooperation agreement officially signed by the two parties, CIMC SOE and Wuyang Iron and Steel will carry out comprehensive cooperation in the research and development and manufacturing of high manganese steel Marine fuel tank, market expansion, technological innovation and other aspects, and jointly create a leading domestic high manganese steel Marine fuel tank industry base.
CIMC SOE said that the strategic cooperation between the two parties is the complementary advantages of technology and resources, but also the accurate grasp and joint exploration of future market trends. It is hoped that all partners can work hand in hand to jointly promote the research and development and application of ship-related industry technologies, and inject new vitality and momentum into the green development of the global shipping industry.
Since 2022, CIMC SOE has formed a joint research and development team with Wuyang Iron and Steel and related classification societies and research institutes, specializing in the application of high manganese steel on real ships. Through unremitting efforts, the team successfully conquered key technologies such as material property regulation, welding material matching, and storage tank preparation, released product standards and application guidelines, and realized the original innovation of the whole high-manganese steel industry chain.
It is worth mentioning that the “GasChem Phoenix” Marine fuel tank delivered is the first time that this material has been applied to the construction of a real ship in China, marking a new generation of low-cost, high-performance ultra-low temperature domestic high manganese steel to achieve a leap from material basic research to domestic engineering applications. This milestone event not only injected new vitality into the development of China’s shipbuilding industry, but also provided strong support for the green development of the global shipping industry.
