MPC Container Ships names a 1,300 TEU dual-fuel (methanol) container vessel

On September 28th, Sanfu Shipbuilding held a naming ceremony for a 1300TE (methanol) container vessel built for Norwegian ship owner MPC Container Ships.

Classed by DNV, the container vessel has an overall length of 149.95 meters, a beam of 26.80 meters, a depth of 14.6 meters, a design draft of 8.00 meters, a maximum deadweight tonnage of 18,700 tons, a design speed of 18 knots.

The container vessel was developed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) with the “NUAT(AW)” and “Recyclable” classification notations.

It will mainly serve the North Sea and the Norwegian coastline, relying on the green methanol plants on the route, and establish a “green corridor” in Northern Europe to achieve carbon neutrality throughout the life cycle and operating area.

The EEDI (energy efficiency design index) fully meets the requirements of the third phase of IMO regulations.
